Periodic structure of Hyperbolic Toral Automorphisms

Abstract:

Hyperbolic toral automorphisms provide one of the simplest example of a discrete dynamical system with infinitely many periodic points. In this talk we survey some results concerning the algebraic structure induced by the automorphism on the set of periodic points and the topological invariants obtained in this way.
